1. What cookies and similar tools are

Cookies and similar tools (local storage, map tiles, browser geolocation) keep NearFor.me working, remember preferences and — only with your consent — measure site use and display maps. This page lists every tool used, who operates it and how long it lasts. We use no third-party advertising cookies and no embedded external tracking libraries.

2. Who decides on cookie use

3. Strictly necessary cookies (always on)

Essential for operation and security; no consent required:

• accessToken / refreshToken (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax cookies): keep you signed in; lifetimes 6 hours and 7 days (30 with “remember me”).
• nf_lang: remembers the language chosen in the top-right switcher; 12 months.
• Balancing and security: any infrastructure technical cookies, session only.

Without these the site cannot work: basic browsing always remains available, even when refusing everything else.

4. Preferences (with consent only)

• nearfor-saved-* (browser local storage): venues saved as favourites.
• nearfor-theme-* (local storage): graphic customisation previews.

If refused, saves last for the current session only and are not kept on the device.

5. Statistics (with consent only)

Aggregate first-party measurement, with no advertising identifiers and no cross-site profiling: counts of button clicks, venue searches and connections to venues. If refused, nothing is measured.

6. Marketing and third parties (with consent only)

• OpenStreetMap map tiles (a/b/c.tile.openstreetmap.org servers): loaded only after consent; before that a placeholder invites you to manage preferences.
• Browser geolocation (“Near me”): precise location is requested only after consent and used once to centre the search.
• External payment checkout: paying leaves to the provider’s page, subject to its own notice.

7. Stored consent choice

The banner choice (Accept all, Reject, Customise) is stored on the device (nf_consent-v1) until withdrawn or site data is cleared; it is re-asked at most every 6 months.

8. How to change your choices

• On the site: “Manage consent” footer link, “Legal” column, at any time with immediate effect on future processing.
• In the browser: clearing cookies and site data in settings; equivalent to withdrawing consent for future processing.

Refusal never blocks browsing: only necessary tools stay on, while maps, precise location, permanent saves and statistics stay off until a positive choice.
